Modetrotter was born in October 2008.
Its founder, Marie Courroy, wanted to offer an online sales site, a different kind of fashion. The brief was very simple: fashion free from restraints, drawing its inspiration more from travel and the street than from magazines and cat-walks. The concept was popular and Modetrotter.com was soon offering a good range of labels, from Heimstone, Roseanna and Opening Ceremony to Jacquemus.
Modetrotter.com experienced good growth and worked with numerous brands. Building on the success of these capsule collections, Modetrotter decided to launch its own brand and embarked upon the change in spring 2015. The launch introduced Modetrotter’s strong, modular and creative style, as well as the theme of travel which would be the common denominator of the four annual collections: spring, summer, autumn and winter.
In March 2016, following a huge amount of preparation and a capital raising, Modetrotter presented its first collection entirely designed, sponsored, manufactured and assembled in Ile-de-France.
The Modetrotter community gave the project its whole-hearted support, the brand was popular and the collections met customers’ expectations so well that in 2017 Modetrotter opened premises at 28 de la rue d’Aboukir, in Paris’s second arrondissement, in a space suitable for welcoming customers, press and partners and holding events.
Modetrotter is not just a brand, it is a world, a cabinet of curiosities where people can come in search of inspiration.
Modetrotter’s shop is a living space. You will come across Marie here, with a Ferrero Rocher in her hand, Monique carrying a roll of material, a manufacturer delivering your dresses…
Here people work, they laugh, they celebrate birthdays. It is also a place people come to discover collections, participate in round table discussions, take a yoga course, try clothes on, purchase, touch, review. You are in our home; indeed, you are at home.

Curious, passionate, spontaneous, creative. A sense of déjà vu? The team is just like Marie.
A team that is able to move mountains when a third of the collection is not ready the day before a shoot, when it realises 14 chairs are needed for a dinner to be held in the shop in an hour’s time or when it is simply a matter of pampering you, reassuring you, helping you… A team that knows how to work with good humour, among packets of Kinder chocolate and Diet Coke.
